Job Title: Test Laboratory Technician

Reports To:  Test Lab Manager

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Summary:  Conducting tests, preparing and maintaining equipment and reporting results by: 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

Responsible for setup and operation of all test laboratory equipment per established ISTA and ASTM test standards.

Conducts test according to established test protocols.

Maintains schedule for test laboratory as main point of contact to ensure testing is completed in a timely manner.

Records and compiles test data and generates reports for customers, both internally and externally.

Maintains and schedules calibration of all test laboratory equipment and certification of ISTA lab.

Maintains work area and laboratory equipment in a neat and orderly condition to ensure smooth operations.

Assists project teams in establishing specifications and quality standards.

Communicates in a clear and concise manner verbally and in written form to customers to ensure comprehension of test procedures.

Provides Design Engineers with design intent and creative input.

Communicates project status to appropriate personnel.

Performs other related duties as assigned.   

 

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); some college course work required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability: 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:  

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; AutoCAD; SolidWorks; and Microsoft Project.

Work Environment: 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to vibration, and dust and sawdust.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and risk of electrical shock.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
