Draftsperson

Location: Sutton, MA

Summary: Works with engineering staff to create and maintain drafts and production of two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings using AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD and SolidWorks by performing the following duties. Gain experience of engineering department in the packaging field.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Creates new product draft and production drawings in two-dimensional and three-dimensional views using AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD and SolidWorks from hand drawings or customer supplied CAD drawings and files.

  1. Updates existing production and draft drawings via the ECO process to current format and design.

  1. Creates and updates foam and corrugated die lines for toolmaking.

  1. Creates, evaluates and utilizes Design Control Planning Forms.

  1. Creates draft and production drawings from samples provided.

  1. Converts drawings into dielines and CAM Table files for sample making.

  1. Provides drawing and product information to production, sales and customers by direct contact, telephone or e-mail.

  1. Performs quality review of production drawings for manufacturability and best design practices are being used.

  1. Maintains the electronic and paper CAD files and filing system.

  1. Assists in maintaining ECO process.

  1. Responsible for recordkeeping of design process and assists in recordkeeping of ECO process.

  1. Assists in the maintenance of the electronic production files.

  1. Scans paper files into the electronic production files.

  1. Prepares and releases drawings to manufacturing.

Education/Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ArtiosCAD design software; Microsoft Internet Explorer; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Access; Adobe Acrobat Writer; and Adobe Illustrator.
